Our Story
The Mongi Family Legacy
Extraordinary Safari was born in 2015 from a simple but powerful dream: to share the breathtaking beauty of Tanzania with the world, while keeping every journey personal, authentic, and family-driven. Founded in Moshi, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, our company is proudly owned and operated by the Mongi Family.
What started as a small, local tour operator has grown into a trusted name for extraordinary wildlife safaris, Kilimanjaro treks, and cultural tours across Tanzania’s northern circuit – from Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire and Lake Manyara. But no matter how much we grow, we remain a family business at heart. Every safari is planned with the same warmth, attention, and care we would offer our own relatives.
Our home is Moshi, Kilimanjaro – the perfect starting point for both mountain climbers and safari adventurers. Being local means we know the land, the wildlife rhythms, and the hidden gems that bigger operators often miss.

Our Philosophy:
The Three Pillars…
Authenticity & Deep Immersion:
We move beyond the checklist. Our itineraries are designed for intimacy—whether it’s a private walking safari in the Okavango Delta, sharing silent moments with a gorilla family in the misty mountains, or sleeping under a blanket of stars in the Serengeti. We prioritize exclusive access, small groups, and interactions that reveal the true essence of each ecosystem.
Expertise & Safety:
Your guide is the key to your experience. Our handpicked guides are not only masters of tracking and wildlife behavior but are also captivating storytellers, bringing the land’s ecology, culture, and history to life. Your safety and comfort, and that of the wildlife, are our paramount concerns.
Conservation & Community:
We believe in a sustainable footprint. A portion of every safari is invested directly into the conservation projects and local communities that are the true guardians of these wild spaces. By traveling with us, you contribute to protecting habitats, supporting anti-poaching units, and empowering villages, ensuring Africa’s majesty endures for generations.

What Sets
Us Apart
Bespoke, Handcrafted Itineraries: We listen intently. Your safari is meticulously tailored to your interests, pace, and dreams, whether it’s photographic mastery, birding, family adventure, or profound solitude..
Exclusive Partnerships: We have deep relationships with the continent’s most iconic and discreet camps, lodges, and conservation reserves, securing you privileged access..
The “Extraordinary” Moments: A surprise sundowner in a breathtaking location, a meal prepared in the bush, a meaningful meeting with a researcher—we specialize in those unexpected, magical details that become your most treasured memories.
we have that one too

Customer first – Your safety, comfort, and joy come before everything else.
Community – We hire local guides, cooks, and porters. A portion of every safari supports a children’s education fund in Moshi.
Our Location
We are based in Moshi, a vibrant town at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. From our office, we are:
